The JET Program

This is a little about the JET Program. I did not cut and paste this from any JET website or book. This is my personal view of what the JET Program is and this website is my online journal of my experiences in Japan. I want to share my experiences with my family and friends and help them to comprehend what I am doing and why.

I live in Wakasa-cho, Tottori-ken, Japan. I am part of the JET Program that sends people to Japan to teach English and to be a foreign face in the community. In this way, Japanese people have the opportunity to see and get to know people from all over the world. The purpose for this kind of internationalization is to break down stereotypes and create opportunities for communication. As an English teacher, students have the opportunity to learn English from a native speaker and will be better able to communicate in English. JETs are placed all over Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa. The JET Program provides a unique opportunity for recent college graduates to gain work experience, make lasting friendships and connect with the Japanese community. As a result, Japanese people understand a little more about other countries and JET participants can take knowledge gained about Japan back to their home countries. THat about sums it up.

I hope you enjoy my writings.
